Highlight of the Trip
OK, so while we r driving out to the Mojave for sunset photo shoot, we pass this lone bicyclist on the desert road. It’s pretty rare to see anyone on bikes in August in Nevada all together let alone on way to the Mojave desert. So i make the decision that this is cool and photo worthy, i tell D to slow car down and i bend out of the window and take a few shots of the biker with the mountains behind him.
pretty darn proud of myself.
check it:

We park near some abandoned buildings in the ghost town mid-Mojave desert to set up my gear for sunset. few minutes later we hear something, no it wasnt a desert serial killer, thoguh it would have been a fine location for never being found, it was the biker dude.
He is Mr. Friendly, takes his camera out and shoots a bit chatting it up with us, and i decide he must be very lonely on the road… and we chat for a few minutes. He is biking from Long Beach, Ca to Chicago… etc.
Impressive.
Then without any good byes we turn around and he is gone.
After we pack up and head to the car we see him on side of road, still taking pictures. So we ask him if he has enough food since he kinda mentioned in passing he might be sleeping out in desert. Mind u we only had like 4 granola bars but we figure we r going back to MGM grand, least we can do is offer this poor fellow our crappy food from Trader Joe’s.
He declines and we continue to talk, b/c he is Mr. friendly, and he tells us his name is Scott Glazier, and he is an artist who is biking across country to raise awareness for Pancreatic Cancer. His mother just lost the battle. ( which was also weird b/c the week before we had just observed a special commemoration for my beloved grandmother who lost her life to pancreatic cancer 11 years ago).
So using his IMMENSE artistic talent he draws portraits of pancreatic cancer patients and will auction them off in Chicago at the culmination of his journey.
This guy turns out to be the coolest guy ever.
Then, I feel compelled to confess to Scott I took all the pics of him on the road down to this site, and hes like great, I’ll put ‘em up on my site.
Anyway, check out his incredible artwork and his blog for his trek. send him a line, tell him I sent u.
we r rooting for u!
