I have noticed that we AS WOMEN, spend most of our lives, energy, time, and money brutally attacking our bodies. Focusing on whats it is NOT, obsessing over what we don’t like, be it:

thinning hair,

frizzy hair,

straight hair,

curly hair,

thick thighs,

chicken legs,

bow legs,

droopy eyes,

close set eyes,

flat chested,

big saggy boobs,

big butt,

flat butt,

cankles,

cellulite,

wrinkles,

age spots,

crows feet,

big pores,

laugh lines,

neck sagging,

pimples,

too short,

too tall,

stretch marks,

oily,

dry,

blotchy,

dull,

ashy,

freckles,

wrong colored eyes,

wrong colored hair,

thin lips,

big ears,

round face,

long face,

too broad,

too narrow,

We can make lists that go on and on and on and on and on, and on some more. (I am sure you will tell me what I missed).

Why is that? Why are we incapable of creating lists of things that we love, admire and appreciate.

I think of how many people after they give birth to beautiful healthy children, and all they can focus on is the weight and the stretch marks, acne, and I am not saying any of those are welcomed physical changes, but I just wish it wouldn’t be the focus.

If we could celebrate our bodies and worship them in the positive sense (not with plastic surgery ) and laud them for creating a life, remembering that some people cannot have children.

On a broader scale instead of loathing your legs, rather be thankful that they operate.

Abhor your breasts and never think of the many women having them removed due to cancer.

I am in no way saying that from now on I will never want a smaller this or a bigger that but I will sincerely try not to fixate on the negative (for too long). Think of the time, energy, tears and money we would save.

We should take care of our bodies because we want to live long healthy lives and celebrate ourselves not because of fitting into a size and punishing ourselves. To give back to your body that has given so much to you. Appreciate our bodies for allowing us to do what we want to do, maybe even going as far as paying homage to the many who don’t have the same fortune.
